From Idea to Market: Low-Code Tools for Rapid Validation

In today's fast-paced tech world, innovation is key for businesses to outpace the competition. Product validation determines if an idea has a chance of succeeding on the market. Traditionally, it is a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. However, with the advent of low-code/no-code development tools, businesses can streamline and speed up this process. In this article, we'll explore the benefits of using low-code tools to quickly validate product ideas and specific startups we've helped build their product using a low-code approach.

What is Low-code/No-code

Low-code/no-code development empowers users to effortlessly design websites and applications through intuitive interfaces, pre-built components, and minimal coding requirements. It provides developers with the ability to visually model application logic, automate processes, and utilize reusable building blocks. By leveraging low-code tools, developers can significantly expedite development timelines and streamline the entire application lifecycle.

Standard vs Low-code approach

A typical product journey begins with a discovery phase. This usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to properly shape and validate the product idea with potential users. Only after that, we can start the “real” product development and it takes another 6 to 8 weeks to release its first version to users and get the first real feedback.

With the latest low-code approach, we've created a combination of discovery and delivery phases for some projects where the standard approach wouldn't be the right fit. Thanks to this, we built a product for the client in just 4 weeks.

Low-code tools and startup success

This approach gives you the opportunity to turn ideas into products and is especially suitable for early-stage startups. Low-code development offers the right combination of validation and functionality. Let's look at how low-code tools benefit startups and impact their success.

From concept to market in no time

Rapid prototyping lets you involve users early in the development process, before spending tons of money on custom development. By presenting interactive prototypes, you gather valuable user feedback and insights, ensuring the final product meets user needs and preferences. This user-centric approach helps you build the right product that solves the right user problems, increasing business success chances.

Efficient and budget-friendly development

With low-code tools, extensive manual coding is eliminated, allowing startup founders to streamline development and reduce costs. By leveraging these tools, you can save time and engineering resources, accelerating your product's time to market. Additionally, early identification and resolution of design flaws and usability issues during the development cycle can prevent costly mistakes. This approach reduces the need for future rework or redevelopment, ultimately saving time and valuable resources in the long term.

Higher productivity & collaboration

Validating a product idea often requires cross-functional collaboration between business stakeholders, designers, developers, and potential users. Low-code tools provide a common platform that facilitates collaboration and communication between these different parties. Because low-code platforms are often visual and require minimal coding expertise, stakeholders can actively participate in prototyping. This collaborative environment fosters a shared understanding of the product vision. It reduces misunderstandings and ensures that the final product meets all stakeholders' requirements.

Increased Agility

In today's fast-paced business landscape, agility is paramount for success. Fortunately, low-code tools provide a powerful solution for responding to market changes and customer feedback. Whether your idea requires minor adjustments or a complete pivot, low-code platforms enable quick and efficient tweaks. Low-code development simplifies adding or modifying features, integrating new functionalities, and even exploring alternative approaches. This inherent flexibility empowers you to adapt your product ideas in real time, significantly enhancing the likelihood of delivering a successful product to the market.

Low-code tools are primarily used for the rapid development and validation of digital products in the early stages. It is ideal for prototyping and product design. But the latest low-code advancements allow for easy expansion and scalability of the product after successful validation. This means that if needed, new features can be added, it can be customized to various business requirements, and it can handle a large user base. However, there are cases when transitioning to custom development may be necessary. It can be challenging to build upon existing low-code code, as some low-code platforms do not allow straightforward export of the generated code.

EzTenda | Validation of a revolutionary idea in the drinks business

As a drink brand owner, Sam Showering (a co-founder of EzTenda) was frustrated with the traditional, in-person sales tendering process used to secure drink listings at venues. It was a slow, inefficient process, and Sam thought it should be reimagined for the digital age. However, as a non-tech person, he needed a tech partner to turn his idea into a digital product. Before our Sudolabs team jumped into custom development, we wanted to make sure we built the right product. So again, we used Bubble prototyping to validate the idea on the market. Read more about the EzTenda journey and how it was built.
